In the 1946 film based on the short story, It's a Wonderful Life, George (played by Jimmy Stewart) returns to the bridge to reclaim this gift with a proclamation and a prayer. "I want to live again. Please God, let me live again!" He cries out these words and then begins to cry, but at that moment his life is restored. His problems have not disappeared, but now he gets to return to his community knowing that his life matters and that those around him care for him deeply. He sees the value of his own life through the care of his community.
Live Again needs your help this season to give this same gift of life and hope to thousands of people through a crowd fundraiser. Our IndieGoGo campaign (similar to Kickstarter) allows you to donate to the cause and receive some nifty perks/gifts as a thank you for getting involved. If we raise the full amount we will turn that funding into customized suicide prevention training for the first 1,000 people and the development of the online/printed resources for communities of all types!
These trainings and tools will give individuals and communities the ability to identify warning signs in those around them and a confidence to approach those around them with words of hope while actively connecting them to on going professional help. Someone dies by suicide every 13.7 minutes in the US and for every death by suicide at least 6 people are intimately affected. By giving to this campaign your helping reverse these statistics. Our hope is that for each person struggling there will be 6 people in their life willing and ready to have a life saving conversations with them.
